Tabteen-CPT receives the first batch of 100-inch dia pipes for Jubail–Buraidah IWTP

Tabteen & Corrosion Prevention Technologies Company (Tabteen-CPT) is thrilled to announce that it has started receiving the first batch of 100-inch diameter pipes for the Jubail–Buraidah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline Project. The pipes will be cement mortar lined at Tabteen-CPT’s new workshop on the Riyadh–Dammam Highway, which first opened its doors during Q4-2025, with a pipe storage capacity area of over 1 sq. km.

Jubail–Buraidah IWTP is considered one of the largest and most significant water transmission projects in the Kingdom. The initiative aims to transport potable water from the Eastern Province to the Qassim region, with the capability for reverse flow operations to ensure operational efficiency and continuous water supply throughout the year (SWPC, 2025).

The project will be developed under a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model through the Stream Water Transmission Company, under a 35-year agreement starting from the commercial operation date (COD) scheduled for the first quarter of 2029.

Once complete, the project will feature a transmission capacity of 650,000 cubic meters per day, water storage capacity of 1,634,500 cubic meters, and a pipeline length of 587 kilometres, considering the fact that it is the first water transmission pipeline connecting two vital regions and serving more than two million beneficiaries with potable water (SWPC, 2025).

David Venutolo, CEO of Tabteen-CPT stated: ‘’Today is a historic day for our company and represents a significant milestone in our growth. The cement mortar lining scope for the Jubail–Buraidah IWTP reflects our organisation’s long-term commitment to SWPC’s strategic plan for water transmission pipelines. In particular, its 2030 vision for future water capacity to be delivered through public-private partnerships (PPP contracts), to ensure sustainable water supply, as part of the national vision to strengthen water security.’’

He went on to say: ‘’Tabteen-CPT supports a variety of Saudization and training initiatives, designed to facilitate local expertise and knowledge transfer for the pipe coating, lining, and corrosion prevention industry. Our vision is to employ and mentor a new generation of Saudi engineers for the Jubail–Buraidah IWTP, using tailor-made programs designed to enhance skills, strategic planning, and critical thinking.’’

Cement mortar lining is expected to begin by mid-February 2026, and collectively will cover 587 kilometres of straight CS pipes, segment bends, and girth-weld joints.
