Plant Turnarounds
Turnaround (TA) maintenance at chemical plants and refineries is an essential activity for increasing production capacity, reducing downtimes, and ensuring a safe working environment for employees. Scheduled maintenance can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months and involves inspections, replacements, repairs and major overhauls of plant equipment.
Tabteen CPT is qualified to execute inspection services for piping systems and plant structures – in order to thoroughly assess for coating defects related to erosion and/or corrosion. Inspection work is carried out under the supervision of AMPP senior certified coating inspectors. Our experts will assist the plant operations team with technical evaluations, as well as the preparation of an inspection plan that coincides with the shutdown schedule.
Once an inspection is complete, a report will be issued to the client covering any observations, abnormalities and recommendations. Thereafter, Tabteen CPT can mobilize its technicians to the project to repair any damaged coating.
Pipeline Rehabilitation
Pipe rehabilitation involves the trenchless rehabilitation of water pipelines in towns and cities, as well as the internal repair of seawater intake systems used in plant cooling.
Trenchless ‘No-dig’ Repairs:
The most popular method for pipeline rehabilitation is CIPP lining. The process is carried out by applying a resin-soaked liner to the damaged area of the pipe internally. The liner is then expanded using compressed air and is cured-in-place (CIPP). The benefit of this technology is that it removes the need for traditional dig-and-replace methods, which can be both costly and time consuming. CIPP rehabilitation offers long lasting structural integrity for existing pipelines used in water transmission.
Cement Lining Repairs:
During periodic turnarounds, Tabteen CPT will inspect seawater intake systems internally to look for areas of erosion or damage. Cement mortar lining is robust and rarely needs repairing, but if required, our skilled technicians have the technical knowhow to carry out the safe removal of damaged lining – as well as the subsequent relining that will follow thereafter. All cement mortar lining rehabilitation work is carried out under a strict confined space permit-to-work system.
